A list of some of the top boarding schools in Connecticut:

Avon Old Farms School (Avon)
As a boys' boarding school, our programs are designed specifically to help young men focus on their development at a time in life when distractions abound. Although numerous opportunities exist for our students to interact with girls from Miss Porter's, Ethel Walker's and other nearby schools, boys are free to live and learn in our structured, supportive environment. In an all-boys context, our students embrace scholastic challenges and compete in the athletic arena while feeling safe exploring the arts, experimenting with poetry, expressing school spirit, and just being themselves.

Choate Rosemary Hall (Wallingford)
From its shared roots over a century ago as The Choate School and Rosemary Hall, through the merger in 1974, to the Choate Rosemary Hall of today, the name represents the best in American secondary education.

The more than 16,000 graduates can attest to the quality of Choate's academic program, but that is only one aspect of the education a student receives. Through interactions with members of the entire Choate community, students mature into young adults who not only have stretched their minds, but have grown personally, spiritually, artistically, and athletically.

Kent School (Kent)
Founded in the Episcopal tradition, as were many New England boarding schools, Kent has retained its spiritual affiliation in an era when many other institutions have relinquished theirs. Our diverse student body comes from a variety of religious backgrounds and secular traditions. Supported by two School Chaplains, students at Kent find an atmosphere which supports the beliefs and practices of all faiths by actively encouraging moral and spiritual understanding and growth. The whole school gathers at St. Joseph's Chapel for two weekday services, which often include a student, faculty, or guest speaker or performance. Thus, the spiritual component of life at Kent School contributes to our sense of community, provides students with a moral basis -- and resources -- for decision-making, and enriches the quality of life and education at Kent.

Miss Porter's School (Farmington)
The small, close-knit community and comfortable atmosphere at MPS make it very special, as do the close relationships that students develop with teachers. The age-old traditions make it a warm place to be and bring students closer as they become a part of Miss Porter's School history.

Pomfret School (Pomfret)
A Pomfret education is more than the acquisition of information or learning other people's ideas. Students who are successful at Pomfret are eager to problem solve, to question, and to be curious. It also entails the process of growing as a person and as a citizen of a community. The Pomfret community embraces intellectual freedom that requires academic discipline, honesty, and hard work.
