There are a variety of theories about how kids become troubled
teens.
The one that is most likely however is that it is usually a combination
of several different factors. Each child is unique, as are the problems
that can lead them astray. In order for teens to receive the help they
need, it is important to find the reasons that they are experiencing
troubles.
Many teens that start down the wrong path have lost sight of their goals
and aspirations. Often they are able to exert pressure on others to
follow them. Parents need to step in and stop their teens from ruining
their own lives and the lives of others. There are a number of options
around the country to offer parents the help they need to save their
kids. Some of these options include military school, private boarding
schools, wilderness programs, boot camps, religious programs, and other
institutions.
Some of the problems that often inflict teens and young adults include:
• Depression
• Alcohol or Drug Abuse
• Disrespect
• Bad Attitude
• Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
• Poor Academic Performance
• Teen Pregnancy
• Easing Disorders
• Physical or Mental Display of Bad Attitude
• Suicide Attempt
A troubled teen can overcome their problems. Healing will be tough
process, and take a coordinated effort between parents, family, school
or program staff, and most especially the teen themselves.
